I have been a fully qualified medical practitioner since 1977. I continue to hold a licence to practice and I remain in NHS employment as a consultant physician. I am fully indemnified and I am on the GMC Specialist Register as a consultant physician.
My main NHS responsibilities lie in the area of acute medicine and in my normal day to day work I see large numbers of acutely ill patients with a wide range of medical issues including many with physical injuries. Whilst the patients I see range in age from 16 to over 100 about two thirds are aged 80 or over.
I am a former clinical tutor for the Royal College of Physicians and the University of Cambridge. I also act as a clinical examinations assessor for the University of Cambridge. I undertake a high level of CPD activity and I was last appraised in December 2017.
I have been producing medico-legal reports for the past 25 years (for both claimants and defendants) and I have given evidence in court on a number of occasions including the Royal Courts of Justice on two occasions.
